Please reach us at info@startdancing.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Nope! You can come with a partner, without a partner, or anywhere in between.
We teach both leads and follows, and we rotate partners in most group classes so everyone gets a chance to dance. Many of our students start on their own and end up making great connections along the way.
You are exactly who we’re built for.
Most of our students start with zero experience. We specialize in helping beginners feel comfortable, confident, and successful from day one—without rushing or overwhelming you.
Short answer: no.
Long answer: still no 🙂
Dance meets you where you are. We adjust pace, movement, and expectations based on you, not some imaginary standard. If you can walk, you can dance—and we’ll help you from there.
Wear something comfortable that lets you move.
Athletic wear, casual clothes, or business-casual all work great. Clean shoes are requested on the dance floor and preferably shoes that do NOT have too much grip/traction—no special dance shoes required at the start. If you have questions later, we’ll help guide you.
Not at all.
Dance is a fantastic way to get in shape—physically, mentally, and socially. Many students tell us this is the first form of exercise they’ve actually enjoyed and stuck with.
Both are valuable—they just serve different purposes.
Most students find the best results come from doing both, but we’ll help you choose what fits your lifestyle and budget.
It can be either—but most students dance socially.
We focus on real-world dancing you can use at parties, weddings, events, and socials. Some students choose to compete later, but that’s always optional—not expected.
Completely normal—and very common.
Almost everyone feels nervous before their first visit. Our job is to make you feel welcome, supported, and comfortable as quickly as possible. You won’t be the only new person, and you won’t be put on the spot.
That’s what we’re here for.
Most new students begin with a free intro session, where we learn about your goals and recommend the best starting point—no pressure, no obligation.
Consistency matters more than intensity.
Once a week is a great place to start for most people. Some dance more, some less—we’ll help you find a rhythm that fits your schedule and keeps dancing fun.
Dance is flexible—and we work hard to keep it that way.
We offer multiple options, from group classes to private lessons and packages, so you can choose what fits your budget. We’ll always be upfront and help you decide without pressure.
That’s okay.
Trying something new is always worth it—and there’s no long-term commitment required to get started. Most people are surprised by how much they enjoy it once they take the first step.
Yes—especially if it’s your first visit.
While we have regular monthly events, holidays or special programming can occasionally change the schedule. Calling ahead ensures everything is running as expected and helps us prepare to welcome you.
We’re happy to help.
If something isn’t answered here, give us a call, send a message, or book a free intro session. We’ll take it one step at a time—together.
