Dance Parties

   If you don’t know already, we host three annual events at our studio that allow students to showcase improvements they’ve made in their dancing. These events are not just an opportunity to perform and have fun but also to push yourself as a dancer.

   The R&J Dance Festival specifically was designed to incorporate a heightened focus on improving dancing skills. Each year we have modified the event based on the previous year’s experience, and we are excited to share the updates we have in store for this year’s event!   

UPDATES

1. In the past we have always celebrated our studio's anniversary on the same weekend as we held the dance festival. This year, the two events will be held on separate weekends.

2. Once all the heats are finished, we will host an award ceremony for all who wish to attend.

3. Each heat will have a chosen mechanic for dancers to focus on.

EXAMPLE:

- Heat 1 will be the Cha-Cha focusing on Hip Swing. 

- Heat 2 will be Rumba focusing on Hip Swing.

- Heat 3 will be Swing focusing on Hip Swing.

- Heat 4 will be Cha-Cha focusing on Knees.

- Heat 5 will be Rumba focusing on Knees.

- Heat 6 will be Swing focusing on Knees.

- Heat 7 will be Cha-Cha focusing on Ankles.

- Etc.

4. Students will receive written feedback from the judge(s).

5. Introducing Individual Rounds! Students can dance as an individual as well with a partner.

6. Last year we had one workshop, this year we will have three!

7. Workshops will be followed by open floor time to give dancers a chance to practice the information learned during the workshop or take a break before the next workshop.

We hope these updates make preparation for the event easier on dancers, create more social activity and excitement during the event, and ultimately provide a more fun and educational experience overall for all participants.
