All group classes are taught in-person downtown Canton at our ballroom dance studio. You can register online or in-person. Some courses have limited spots available. Drop-in classes are $15 and ONLY AVAILABLE FOR SOME COURSES. If the course allows drop-in students, it will say so in its description.
Most group classes at R&J are designed to incorporate all levels and to give each student individual attention. We always have three or more instructors in class who will make their way around to each of the students. This is one of the reasons we have a limited number of spots in each class. With too many students, we cannot guarantee giving each student individual attention.
The pace of each group course is determined by the participants and the material the course is meant to cover. The classes are setup in a system that takes you through each phase of learning. Be sure to move through each of the classes. Taking the same class is encouraged for practicing.
Four Weeks / Six Dances – Cha-cha, Waltz, Rumba, Tango, East Coast Swing, Foxtrot
Beginner – If you have never danced before or are still learning the different dances, this is the best class for you. You will be introduced to the basics of each of the six main ballroom dances. Each class incorporates a warm-up and brief introduction to the basics. Students are then given time to practice while the instructors walk around assisting.
Beginner-Advanced Bronze – Dancers who already know the basics are to use this time as an opportunity to review the different dances and patterns that they have learned. The teachers will be walking around assisting, answering questions, and teaching new patterns.
Rhythm: This is a four-week course that focuses on the cha-cha. rumba and east coast swing.
Smooth: This is a four-week course that focuses on the waltz, tango and foxtrot.
*Students MUST have taken Two Left Feet Intro to be eligible to sign up for these courses.
*Exceptions can be made for:
Current enrolled private lesson students can ask their teacher if they are able to sign up for higher level courses.
New students with past dance experience can schedule a private lesson to get evaluated by an R&J instructor to qualify for higher level courses.
Eight Weeks / One Dance – Check website to see which dances are coming up
This class is designed to take students through the entire bronze syllabus. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced bronze generally will include about 15 different patterns. Focusing on one dance for an eight-week period will greatly improve your dancing all around. Each dance uses similar movements so as you progress in one dance, the skills you have obtained will carry over to the other dances.
Four Weeks / One Dance – Each year on our studio opening anniversary (September), a new routine is created. Courses to learn the routine run throughout the year, usually bi-monthly.
In this class, students will learn a full-on choreographed dance routine. This class is NOT for brand new dancers. In order to sign up students must have completed Two Left Feet Intro AND Two Left Feet Rhythm or Smooth.
Have you taken or are you currently taking lessons through our Volunteer Program? If so, this class is our way of saying thank you! A Volunteer Only Group Class is scheduled each month, be sure not to miss out!
